In my Art I am essentially interested in creating works that speak both to me and to others, particularly in relation to Ireland. My preferred medium is paint as I enjoy the mixing of colour's and capturing an image with brushstrokes. In many of my works I look at the effects of light and its influence on its surroundings.
My more recent painting ‘The Chinaman’ is evidence of this, I worked from an old black and white photo taken in daylight. As the building no longer exists; I had to then reimagine the landscape as a night scene and how light would reflect throughout. I hope this painting would evoke a memory of this once famous pub in the minds of those who walked the streets of Dublin.
