I believe that the best art emerges from the everyday. Rather than attempting to transcend the ordinary, I embrace its familiarity and use this to anchor my audience's reaction to my work. I strive to elicit feelings of security and warmth through comforting renditions of the experiences that we all share.
Colour has a huge influence on my art. I use a wide range of colour in my work to elevate the ambiance of a piece. I compound this with textured brushwork in a swirling motion to increase the fluidity of my work. I work with oil paint as its consistency compliments my painting style. My embroidery takes on similar characteristics, however I lean more into the abstract in this medium.
My artwork focuses on the nuances of the human figure. Having danced my whole life I am fascinated by the subtle movement and expressions of people, as well as the hidden emotions behind their actions. I explore these themes through sculpture, embroidery and painting, often abstracting the figure to push the emotion to the foreground.
